These terms apply when you buy the online CEFR English Proficiency Test from Education House Language School (โรงเรียนภาษาเอ็ดดูเคชั่นเฮาส์), 75/43 Soi Rom Klao 1, Saen Saep, Min Buri, Bangkok 10510 (“Education House”, “we”). You accept them by ticking the box at checkout. If the test taker is under 20, a parent or guardian must make the purchase and accept these terms. Tests for schools and companies are arranged by separate agreement.

1. What the test is

The CEFR English Proficiency Test is Education House’s own English test. It is taken online and reports the result on the international CEFR scale, from Pre-A1 to C2. It has four parts: Use of English, Listening, Writing and Speaking. The questions adapt to each answer, so the number of questions differs from person to person.

The test is taken without a supervisor. It is suitable from age 5 to adult. The certificate shows the level reached on the date of the test.

2. What you get for the price

• One test for each person. You can buy up to 20 tests in one order, with one login for each test.
• A personal username and password, shown after payment and sent by email.
• A sound check, a microphone check and a practice question before the test begins.
• An overall CEFR level and a score from 0 to 100, and a level and score for each of the four skills.
• A PDF certificate with a unique number and QR code, which you download at cefr.eh.ac.th/download with the same login.
• Online checking of the certificate at cefr.eh.ac.th/verify.
• A personal report in Thai with strengths, what to practise next and a rough comparison with other exams. The comparison is a guide only and is not an exam result.

The price does not include lessons, individual teaching feedback or a printed certificate. The price is shown in Thai baht at checkout. If the computer cannot judge a Speaking answer with confidence, a teacher checks it, and the certificate may only be available after that check.

Buy 5, pay 4: for every five normal tests in one order, one is free. So 5 tests cost the price of 4, and 10 tests cost the price of 8. Retakes are not included.

3. What the certificate can and cannot be used for

Commonly used for: placement in schools, English Programmes (EP/MEP) and language courses; showing a student’s progress from year to year; student portfolios, CVs and job applications; and staff training and placement in companies.

May be accepted by: schools, course providers and employers that accept a school’s own test reported on the CEFR scale. Each organisation decides for itself. If you need the certificate for a specific purpose, please ask that organisation before you buy.

Most likely will not be accepted for:

• visas and immigration;
• government posts or scholarships that name a particular exam;
• university admissions that require IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC or Cambridge exams;
• professional licences or any purpose that requires a supervised exam.

This test does not replace IELTS, TOEFL, TOEIC or Cambridge exams. It is not issued or endorsed by the Council of Europe or by the Thai Ministry of Education. Education House is licensed by the Ministry of Education as a private school, but that licence does not cover this test or certificate. We do not guarantee that any organisation will accept the certificate, and a refusal by an organisation is not a reason for a refund.

4. Your login

• You must start the test within 30 days of payment, or within 90 days if you bought two or more tests in one order. After that the login expires. A test you have already started can still be finished.
• The login is for the named test taker only. Please do not share it.
• The name on the certificate is the English name you enter at checkout or, if you bought two or more tests, the name each person enters at their first login. Please check the spelling, as you cannot change it yourself afterwards. Contact us if it needs correcting.
• If you buy two or more tests, you are responsible for giving each login to the right person. Each person gives their age group and accepts these terms at their first login. For anyone under 20, a parent or guardian must agree.
• If you have not received your login a few minutes after paying, check your spam folder and then contact us with your order number.

5. What you need

You are responsible for your own device, internet connection and testing place. You need a computer, tablet or phone with a current browser, a headset with a microphone, a stable internet connection of at least 5 Mbit/s and a quiet place. Details are on the test page. Please complete the sound and microphone checks carefully, and do not press “I’m ready” until they work.

6. Time limit

The test has a limit of 40 minutes, which begins when you press “I’m ready”. Please allow 50–60 minutes in total. The clock cannot be paused. It keeps running if your connection drops, your device stops working or you close the browser. When the time is up, the test ends and the result is calculated from the answers given so far, so it may not show your true level.

7. If something goes wrong

• Your internet connection drops: the test shows “Connecting…” and carries on when the connection returns. Answers already sent are saved. The clock keeps running.
• Your computer, phone or browser stops working, or the power goes off: log in again with the same username and password, on the same or another device, and continue where you stopped. The clock keeps running.
• Your microphone or sound stops working: try to fix it and carry on. If the computer cannot hear an answer clearly, it asks you to try again. Unclear answers are checked by a teacher.
• A problem on your side stopped you from finishing: contact us within 7 days of the test. Education House may give you one free new login, once per order.
• A problem on our side affected your test (for example our server or system was not working, or there was a marking fault): contact us, and after we have checked our records you may choose a free new test or a full refund.
• You think your result is wrong: contact us and we will check the records of your test.

8. Refunds

• If you have not started the test, you can ask for a full refund at any time until your login expires. The login is then switched off.
• If you bought several tests, you can ask for a refund of each test that has not been started. Each test is refunded at the average price actually paid per test, including any bonus.
• A test counts as started once you have pressed “I’m ready”.
• After the test has started, there is no refund, except for a problem on our side as described in section 7.
• There is no refund for a login that expired without being used.
• Refunds are made to the original payment method through 2C2P. The time it takes depends on your bank or card provider.

9. Taking the test honestly

The test taker must do the test alone, without help from another person, dictionaries, translation tools or AI tools. Help gives a level that is too high, which can lead to unsuitable classes. The system records events such as leaving the test screen. If there is clear evidence that someone else took the test or that the test taker received help, Education House may cancel the result and the certificate, with no refund.

10. Retakes

A retake is a new purchase with a new login. It does not change or replace an earlier result or certificate.

11. Personal data

We use the details you give at checkout to provide the test, the login, the result and the certificate. Please see our Privacy Policy. We never ask for a national ID number.

12. Our responsibility

Nothing in these terms limits your rights under Thai consumer law. Apart from those rights, our responsibility to you for a test is limited to the remedies in these terms and to the price you paid for it. These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand.
